On September 10th, the Thai police and tax officials carried out a joint operation in the Wihamden District of Sarawut Province. They seized over 559,000 illegal electronic cigarettes and related accessories, with a total value of approximately 90 million Thai baht (about 2.8 million US dollars). The relevant information was announced at today's press conference, which was chaired by Pol Lt Gen Trairong Phiewphan, the director of the Thai Cybercrime Investigation Bureau.
It was reported that the police cybercrime unit followed a suspicious pickup truck from Bangkok to a warehouse in Group 4 of Bang Lam Village and conducted a surprise inspection at the site. The law enforcement officers discovered:
138,680 single-use INFY electronic cigarettes, 40,800 single-use Escobar electronic cigarettes, 374,000 INFY Pod vaporizers, and 6,350 INFY electronic cigarette devices. The police stated that this large-scale seizure operation indicates that illegal electronic cigarettes still have a huge black market circulation in Thailand, and the law enforcement authorities will continue to intensify their crackdown efforts.
