Worth 100 million yuan! Kazakhstan customs intercepted a batch of e-cigarettes from China

Kazakhstan Alakol Customs recently intercepted a batch of e-cigarettes from China, which weighed 155.8 tons and were estimated to be worth 100 million yuan.

On July 3, according to the press office of the National Taxation Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, Alakol customs in Kazakhstan recently intercepted a batch of e-cigarettes from China. Tenge (approximately RMB 100 million).

Customs officials stated that the reason for detaining these e-cigarette goods and means of transport was that documents and import declarations were not provided when the goods arrived in the customs area of the Eurasian Economic Union, which violated the relevant regulations of the customs area of the Eurasian Economic Union.

It is understood that the customs staff, together with the staff of the economic investigation department of the Zhetis area, stopped the import of these illegal disposable electronic cigarettes, e-liquids and electronic cigarette accessories into Kazakhstan during the control of goods and vehicles by the Arakol customs. According to the estimates of relevant experts in the country, the total value of the intercepted goods is 6.1 billion tenge, and the total amount of customs duties and taxes that should be paid is expected to be 1.9 billion tenge (about 31 million yuan).

At present, the consignment and evidence have been transferred to the investigation department in the Zhetis region for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In addition, from March 1 to 6 this year, a total of 8 trucks entered Kazakhstan's Alakol customs from China. According to the country's law, the carrier failed to notify the customs authorities of the arrival of the goods and vehicles on the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union in a timely manner and did not submit the cargo documents, violating article 154 of the Customs Code. For these violations, the carrier was held administratively liable under Articles 524 and 531 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In May of this year, a Kazakh citizen was sentenced to one year in prison for smuggling electronic cigarettes and smoking accessories worth 50 million tenge. Previously, Volodin, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, had asked to unite with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to crack down on gray customs channels. He specifically named Belarus and Kazakhstan at that time.
