Brazil is about to formulate e-cigarette regulatory policies
Recently, the Brazilian National Health Supervision Bureau revealed that it plans to start public consultation on e-cigarette regulation in the second half of this year.
According to CEO Antonio Barra Torres, the process is at the drafting stage of a standard. The marketing, importation and distribution of e-cigarettes is currently illegal in Brazil.
Anyone who imports equipment, accessories, refills, and e-juice could be subject to legal sanctions, such as fines of up to 1.5 million reais (about 2.24 million yuan).
During the public consultation process, social and economic activists involved in the discussions will submit statements, opinions or proposals to the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency by a deadline.
The public consultations will be consolidated by the technology department and then submitted by Barra Torres to the agency's board of directors, which will make the final decision on the regulation.
