The Law Enforcement Agencies From Seven Regions in Sabah, Malaysia, Jointly Carried Out An Operation And Seized 156,000 US Dollars Worth Of Illegal Electronic Cigarettes.

According to the report by theborneopost news on January 17th, as reported by local media on the same day, the Malaysian Sabah Special Operations Force (GOF) jointly with the Ministry of Health and local government carried out a coordinated law enforcement operation in seven regions, seizing a large quantity of illegal electronic cigarettes, vaporizers, and e-liquids. The total value of the seized items exceeded 156,000 US dollars. This operation covered key areas such as Kota Kinabalu, Tutul, Sandakan, and Nado, and arrested 23 local individuals, with ages ranging from 20 to 35 years old. The seized items included approximately 9,000 electronic cigarette devices, 3,000 vaporizers, and over 1,900 bottles of e-liquids. The case will be investigated in accordance with the "2024 Public Health Smoking Product Control Act". The offenders can face a maximum fine of 30,000 ringgit or imprisonment for up to 2 years. Some cases will also be combined with investigations of trade license violations. This operation sends a clear signal: The local level in Malaysia is continuously strengthening its law enforcement against the circulation of illegal electronic cigarettes,and  regulation has rapidly moved from the policy level down to the front-line enforcement.
