British MPs Named Monster Vape: One Device Is Equivalent To 8,000 Cigarettes. They Called For Comprehensive Legislation To Completely Ban It.

According to a report by Mirror News on January 17th,
a senior British politician warned that the so-called "Monster vape" kit, which claims to have an inhalation volume equivalent to over 8,000 cigarettes, must be banned in the UK. After the ban on disposable electronic cigarettes, the market popularity of such products is rapidly increasing. Dr Beccy Cooper, a Labour Party member and public health doctor, called for, through the upcoming "Tobacco & Vapes Bill", to close the current legal loopholes exploited by businesses and prevent the sale of up to 100,000 inhalations of electronic cigarette products in the UK market. With the UK government officially banning disposable electronic cigarettes in June last year, the popularity of these "ultra-high inhalation count" electronic cigarette kits has been continuously rising. Dr Cooper, who is a member of the Worsingingsey electoral district, said in an interview with Mirror: "The so-called 'Monster vape' is undermining the legislative purpose of the one-time electronic cigarette ban and also circumvents the current restrictions on the capacity of e-liquid and equipment specifications. Those devices that are advertised as providing tens of thousands of inhalations have raised serious public health concerns and should not be on the market in the UK." She further emphasized: "We must clearly state that the use of regulatory loopholes is unacceptable. The 'Tobacco & Vapes Bill' must be used to fill these gaps. Electronic cigarettes can play a certain role in helping adults quit smoking, but these ultra-high inhalation count products are weakening our efforts to truly achieve a 'smoke-free society' in the UK."
