Mexico's Senate to vote on e-cigarette ban proposal, e-cigarette industry gathers to protest

Mexican e-cigarette product merchants and pro-e-cigarette organizations gathered in front of the Senate to protest a bill that bans and punishes e-cigarette-related activities, believing that this will lead to the formation of a black market and criminalize consumers.
According to Reporte Indigo on December 10, Mexican e-cigarette product merchants and pro-e-cigarette organizations gathered in front of the Senate with the protest slogan: "Ban, ban!"
On Tuesday (10th), the plenary session of the Mexican Senate will discuss and vote on a bill that bans and punishes e-cigarette-related activities and the illegal use of fentanyl. Protesters believe that the proposal will lead to the formation of a "black market" and make consumers the objects of criminalization.
Organizers stressed that their goal is to make legislators listen to their voices and promote reasonable regulation based on scientific evidence rather than a total ban. Juan José Cirión Lee, president of the Mexican and World Electronic Cigarette Organization, pointed out that the measure is infringing on the human rights of users of these devices.
"We are not only defending e-cigarettes, but also defending freedom."
