According to a report by BBC News on November 19th,
The Irish government has officially approved the legislative plan to ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes. It will issue the "Public Health (Disposable Electronic Cigarettes) Bill 2025". The ban will prevent retailers from selling disposable electronic cigarettes, aligning with the ban that has been in effect in Northern Ireland since April 2025.
Those who violate the rule in Northern Ireland can face a maximum of two years in prison and a maximum fine of £5,000. The new regulations will also:
Prohibit the sale of nicotine products (including nicotine pouches) to those under the age of 18. Completely ban advertising. Retail stores are not allowed to publicly display nicotine products. The packaging, appearance, taste, and display of the products will be uniformly regulated.
The government emphasizes that the regulations are to address future new nicotine products and protect teenagers from the risk of nicotine addiction. The health minister stated that this measure is to "reduce the attractiveness of nicotine products to teenagers" and promised to implement it as soon as possible.
