According to the report by Khmer Times on November 20th:
The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia has issued a strict order: If tourism service providers engage in the sale, storage, advertising, import, production or use of e-cigarettes or shisha, they will face warnings, suspension of business or revocation of business licenses. This measure stems from the national ban (Sub-Decree No.02 BB) issued by the government on October 21st, which completely prohibits the import, sale and use of e-cigarettes and shisha.
The ban applies to: government officials, tourism industry practitioners, schools and related public places. The authorities emphasize: First-time offenders can be given a verbal warning and their equipment confiscated. Repeat offenders will receive a written warning, a compulsory commitment letter and administrative penalties. The Ministry of Health points out that e-cigarettes contain high doses of nicotine and may be more harmful than traditional cigarettes, and are often mixed with marijuana and other substances.
Shisha (Arabian water pipe) releases a large amount of toxins, which can cause major health risks such as lung diseases, heart diseases, cancer, premature birth and infertility.
The authorities stated that strictly enforcing the ban is to protect teenagers, maintain social order and safeguard the international image of the tourism industry.
