Virginia court rules Reynolds can continue selling Vuse e-cigarettes
The U.S. court in Virginia recently rejected Philip Morris' request to ban Reynolds from selling Vuse e-cigarettes on the grounds that Reynolds violated its patent, and ruled that Reynolds can continue to sell Vuse e-cigarettes, but it has to pay patent royalties to Philip Morris International .
Virginia judge Leonie Blinkina stated that Reynolds Vuse Alto pods need to pay 1.8% of sales as a patent fee, and Vuse Solo G2 pods need to pay 2.2% of sales as a patent fee.
Renault said it is currently evaluating next steps to study the possibility of appealing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to overturn the infringement ruling.
In the latest Nielsen Convenience Store Tobacco Product Sales Report, Vuse has a 42.2% share of the U.S. e-cigarette market.
