British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Ltd. announced on Monday that it will gradually phase out its Vuse e-cigarette products from the Malaysian market by the third quarter of 2025 to comply with the new "Public Health Smoking Products Control Act 2024" (Act No. 852).
Vuse is currently the only e-cigarette product sold by British American Tobacco Malaysia in the local market. Eliminating Vuse from the Malaysian market means the company's exit from the Malaysian e-cigarette market, but it retains traditional tobacco brands such as Dunhill, Peter Stuyvesant, Rothmans, KYO and Luckies. The company expects that this withdrawal will have a negligible impact on its financial performance for the year ending December 31, 2025.
Last Thursday, Malaysian Health Minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Ahmad said that the government will strengthen the enforcement and regulation of e-cigarette and vapor cigarette products in accordance with Act No. 852 to prevent minors from using them.
