According to a report by The New Straits Times on April 24th: Guarantanganjau: The government of Dengajau will ban the sale of electronic cigarette (vape) products in all places across the state starting from August 1st.
The chairman of the state local government, housing and health committee, Datuk Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah, said that this decision made at yesterday's state administrative council meeting is a positive measure aimed at curbing the sale and use of electronic cigarette products, as these products may have a negative impact on the health of the younger generation.
"The unanimous decision reached is that the state government will maintain the current policy and will not approve the issuance of business licenses for any places selling electronic cigarette products. This is in line with the current regulations of all local government areas in Dengajau.
He stated in a statement tonight: "The conditions for business licenses will also be improved to ensure that the electronic cigarette sales ban can be fully implemented."
Wan Sukairi said that any electronic cigarette business operators who continue to sell after the ban takes effect will face severe penalties under the provisions of the Local Government Act of 1976 (Act No. 171), including fines, seizure, and litigation.
He added that the state has also decided not to accept any form of sponsorship from electronic cigarette manufacturers or distributors for any activities involving the state government.
"Before the full implementation on August 1st, a three-month grace period from May 1st to July 31st will be provided, including actions related to electronic cigarette business advertisements."
