In early 2025, the Standing Committee of the Mexican Congress confirmed the constitutional validity of these medical reforms. This proposal aims to strengthen these reforms in accordance with Article 4, Paragraph 5 of the Constitution.
The proposal specifies in detail the terms that the Mexican Ministry of Health must follow when conducting centralized procurement of medical equipment and related supplies. It also considers how to integrate Mexico's plans to achieve more equitable and sustainable economic development and strengthen the domestic market.
The bill also strengthened the powers of the Federal Health Risk Management Committee (COFEPRIS) to simplify its processes and improve administrative efficiency, thereby promoting the effective compliance of the private sector with regulations.
