The Malaysian Customs Seized A Batch Of Electronic Cigarettes Worth Nearly 4 Million US Dollars.

Recently, the customs department of Kedah State in Malaysia conducted a surprise inspection at a storage warehouse in Padangkotak, Glass City. They seized electronic cigarettes and related equipment as well as e-liquids worth over 16 million ringgit (approximately 27.5 million yuan).
The person in charge, Wan Marini Wan Hamzah, said that during the operation at 3 p.m. on October 13th, the law enforcement team discovered a total of 719,250 pieces of electronic cigarette equipment and e-liquids. "After further verification, it was found that there were 211,050 sets of electronic cigarette equipment and 508,200 bottles of various brands of e-liquids. The total value of these unreported goods was approximately 13 million ringgit, and the estimated import duties and various taxes exceeded 3 million ringgit."
According to the Malaysian News Agency, the person in charge stated at the press conference: "The suspect involved is a man in his 40s. He failed to present a valid import license issued by the Ministry of Health." She emphasized that, as per the provisions of the "2023 Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Ordinance" in the first part of the second appendix, e-liquid belongs to controlled imported items and must be approved by the Ministry of Health before being allowed to enter the country.
"These electronic cigarette devices and e-liquid produced in China entered through Kuala Lumpur International Airport and were then transported by land to the Johor state. They are still under investigation as to whether these e-cigarettes are intended for the local market or are planned for re-export to other countries. At the same time, more suspects, including the warehouse owner, are being pursued."
This case is being investigated in accordance with the "1967 Customs Act" clause 135(1)(g). The person in charge added that the customs will continue to strengthen surveillance at all national ports to curb the smuggling of prohibited items and high-tariff goods.
