The DTI Of The Philippines Plans To Completely Ban Open-style Electronic Cigarettes And Unapproved E-liquids, Resulting in The Removal Of Many Brand Devices From The Market.

According to a report by NewsByte on October 9th: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines is taking regulatory actions and plans to prohibit the manufacture, import, distribution, and sale of open pod electronic cigarette systems and unapproved e-liquids to address the increasingly prominent safety and health risks.
"Open pod e-cigarettes" become the focus of regulation
What is called "open pod electronic cigarette systems" allow users to fill in non-approved e-liquids by themselves.
The DTI pointed out that these products have safety and health risks, so they will be included in the key regulatory and banned scope.
The first list of affected brands has been announced
As part of the regulatory action, the DTI has asked some manufacturers to adjust the scope of certification.
The Phantom Vape Group voluntarily reduced the scope of its "Philippine Standard Certification License" (PS License No. Q-00002),
excluding several open devices of its VAGEND brand, including: VPRIME Device XLIM PRO 2 Device NEXLIM Device XLIM GO Device XLIM SQ PRO 2 Device. These products are not allowed to be manufactured, imported or sold in the Philippines from now on.
Mainly due to the detection of "synthetic cannabinoids-like substances" in e-cigarettes attracting attention
This move by the DTI is partly due to the recent notification by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA),
in which suspected synthetic cannabinoid-containing e-cigarette products were found in the "Tuklaw" brand cigarettes. This incident has raised the government's vigilance on the source and safety standards of e-liquids.
A nationwide ban is about to be introduced
The Special Task Office for Vapor Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products (OSMV) under the DTI is finalizing a command,
officially establishing a complete ban on open pod electronic cigarette systems and unapproved e-liquids nationwide.
The list of compliant manufacturers has been made public
The DTI reminds the industry and consumers that they can query the latest
"List of Certified Philippine Standards License Holders" (Certified Philippine Standards License Holders) on the OSMV official website to identify legal products and certified brands.
