According to the Tobaccoreporter news: BAT France, the British American Tobacco company in France, welcomes the nicotine pouch test standard XP V37-500 issued by the French Standards Association (AFNOR), stating that this standard will help ensure product safety, quality and consumers' right to know.
This standard was jointly developed by industry experts, researchers and manufacturers. It sets strict regulations for nicotine pouch products in five aspects:
The five core requirements are as follows: The product ingredients can only use food-grade or pharmaceutical-grade nicotine. It must be naturally extracted. Each pouch should not exceed 16.6 milligrams. The production process must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The source of raw materials needs to be traceable. Toxicological assessment: All components (including impurities and packaging) need to undergo toxicological risk assessment. Packaging requirements: The packaging materials must comply with EU food safety standards and must have tamper-proof design. Labels should clearly indicate nicotine content, ingredients, allergen information, and accompanying addiction risk warnings.
Sebastien Chalboin, the Public Affairs Director of BAT France, said: "Standards like XP V37-500 provide dual guarantees of quality and transparency for nicotine pouch products used by adults, ensuring their compliance sales in professional networks."
