According to Polsatnews' report on April 1st, Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland, signed an amendment to the Tobacco Law. The amendment prohibits the sale of flavored heated tobacco products. The new regulation will come into effect on April 1st and aims to reduce the market supply of such products.
On April 1st, President Andrzej Duda signed the amendment to the "Law on Protecting Health from the Consequences of Tobacco and Tobacco Products". It prohibits the sale of flavored heated tobacco products. The amendment was passed on February 21st. According to the regulations, producers and sellers will have a nine-month transition period to adapt to the new regulation.
This signed amendment is partly in response to the directive of the European Union. The directive is to be implemented in member states as of October 23rd, 2023.
According to data from the European Commission, the sales of heated tobacco products have increased by 2009% in recent years, and their share in the EU tobacco market has reached 3.33%.
In addition, the Polish Parliament is currently discussing another bill, planning to restrict the sale of electronic cigarettes. This new bill prepared by the Ministry of Health prohibits the sale of all types of electronic cigarettes and spare containers to people under the age of 18, regardless of whether they contain nicotine. The legislation is currently in the notification stage of the European Commission.
