Russian Duma Chairman launches survey: More than 80% of voters support a complete ban on e-cigarettes

Russian State Duma Chairman Volodin launched a survey in his Telegram channel, asking whether he supports a total ban on the sale of e-cigarettes. As of January 18, more than 45,000 people voted, of which 88% supported the ban.
According to Russian newspapers on January 18, Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin launched a survey in his Telegram channel, and preliminary results showed that the vast majority of voters supported a total ban on the sale of e-cigarettes.
Volodin said that as early as 2023, legislators had passed a law prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes and related e-liquids to minors. However, after analyzing the implementation of the law, it was found that these measures were not enough to protect children. Therefore, he asked subscribers whether they supported a total ban on the sale of e-cigarettes and their e-liquids.
As of January 18, more than 45,000 people have participated in the vote. Among them, 88% of voters expressed support for the ban, 8% of voters chose not to support it, and a small number of voters said they didn't care.
Previously, a group of MPs from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) proposed a ban on the wholesale and retail of e-cigarettes and their e-liquids. The proposal was submitted to the State Duma for deliberation on December 26. The MPs pointed out that these consumer devices containing nicotine and nicotine-free e-liquids pose health risks and that the current regulation of these products is not sufficient.
