Indonesia Will Regulate E-cigarette Advertisements On Online Platforms.

According to an article by Entara News on June 2: Jakarta (ANTARA) - According to a senior health official, the Indonesian government plans to regulate advertisements for e-cigarettes (commonly known as vapes) on online media.
Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the director of non-communicable disease prevention and control, said on Monday that the Ministry of Health is coordinating with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to develop technical guidelines.
These guidelines will serve as derivative regulations of Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 (PP), which implements the "Health Law" of 2023 No. 17.
She said at a virtual seminar marking World No Tobacco Day: "We will formulate technical regulations to manage the behavior of influencers on social media when they promote e-cigarettes."
Tamiz added that the Ministry of Health is coordinating the implementation of this regulation with other ministries and agencies, and plans to complete it within the year.
The Ministry of Health utilized the World No Tobacco Day on May 31st this year to raise public awareness of the dangers of tobacco and e-cigarette products.
This year's theme is "Unveiling the Misleading Attractiveness of Tobacco and Nicotine Products", which aligns with the global theme of the World Health Organization, "Unveiling the Veil of Attraction".
Tamiz explained that the topic aims to expose the tactics used by the tobacco industry to make harmful products (especially e-cigarettes) more attractive to young people.
She emphasized that the Indonesian government supports the World Health Organization's global tobacco control strategy, namely "MPOWER": Monitoring, Protection, Offering, Warning, Enforcement and Promotion.p20250214113032f000d
