The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines suspended sales of 11 e-cigarette brands in October due to violations of health warnings and tax compliance regulations on packaging under the e-cigarette law.

The DTI Office of Special Tasks (OSMV) stated that these e-cigarette brands have been suspended for violating Section 4 of Republic Act 11900, the Nicotine and Non Nicotine Nebulized Products Regulatory Act. The regulation requires that electronic cigarette products must have a full-color health warning on their packaging that accounts for 20%, and indicate that the product is addictive and not recommended for non-smokers.
The regulation also stipulates that electronic cigarette products must have financial markings or the seal of the Philippine Internal Revenue Service (BIR). The DTI Special Task Office stated that they only focus on whether the product has a BIR seal, and whether the seal is fake is the responsibility of the BIR to investigate.
According to industry insiders in the Philippines, several large Chinese e-cigarette companies are temporarily withdrawing from the Philippine market.
