The UK Will Implement A New Tax On E-liquid in October 2026.

According to the Daily Star News on August 9th: The British government will impose a new tax on e-cigarette liquid starting from October 2026, with an additional charge of 0.22 pounds per milliliter. This will cause the price of 100 milliliters of flavored e-cigarette oil to skyrocket from the current approximately 15 pounds to approximately 40 pounds.
Tax impact: The 100 milliliters of e-cigarette oil will increase by 22 pounds in taxes (excluding VAT), and the retail price will generally rise to above 36.99 pounds, with some high-end products exceeding 40 pounds. Large-capacity bottles (originally more cost-effective) are the most affected.
Policy purpose: To prevent non-smokers from starting to use e-cigarettes and to raise funds for public services such as the NHS.
Potential risks: Excessively high prices may cause some users to resume smoking (the average price of cigarettes in the UK is 16.6 pounds per pack). E-liquid without nicotine is also subject to the same tax rate. Independent small e-cigarette stores may struggle to survive due to the combined pressure of the one-time e-cigarette ban and the new tax. Or it may prompt some consumers to switch to DIY e-liquid or illegal imported products, bringing potential public health risks.
