The Iraqi Ministry Of Health Has Announced That It Will Ban Electronic Cigarettes.

On May 7th, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced plans to ban the import, sale and distribution of electronic cigarettes across the country. The reason given was that people's health problems were becoming increasingly serious, and the use of electronic cigarettes by children and teenagers was increasing.
Dr. Wasim Kilani, the assistant director of the National Anti-Tobacco Project of the Iraqi Ministry of Health, said that a new legislative measure called "Law to Prevent the Harmful Effects of Tobacco" is about to be passed. This law will strictly prohibit the entry and commercial transactions of electronic cigarettes and will include clear enforcement mechanisms, such as fines, legal penalties and confiscation of electronic cigarette equipment.
According to the statistics of the Iraqi Ministry of Health, 36% of men, 18.7% of adults and 11% of teenagers in Iraq smoke. Kilani said that due to the colorful design and attractive flavors of electronic cigarettes, they are particularly popular among children, teenagers and even young girls.
The fight against electronic cigarettes is part of Iraq's national anti-tobacco campaign. Like many countries in the Middle East, Iraq has long been struggling against high smoking rates, but according to the Ministry of Health, the introduction of electronic cigarettes has made the situation more complicated, as it attracts younger and more tech-savvy people.
Although the bill has not been officially passed yet, Kilani confirmed that the electronic cigarette ban will be strictly enforced and urged citizens, especially parents and educators, to act together.
