Japan Tobacco International stops selling two cigarettes in South Korea and may switch to heated tobacco products

Japan Tobacco International announced that it will stop selling "Mevius Havana Crush" and "Camel Super Slim" cigarettes in South Korea from February, adjusting its product line to respond to the demand for flavored cigarettes and heated tobacco products in the Korean tobacco market.
According to Newsis on January 17, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) announced that it would stop selling two cigarette products in South Korea.
Industry sources revealed that JTI Korea plans to stop selling "Mevius Havana Crush" and "Camel Super Slim" in some convenience stores from next month (February).
"Mevius Havana Crush" and "Camel Super Slim" are both representative cigarette brands under JTI. JTI also stopped selling "Mevius One" cigarettes in 2024, and instead launched three new flavored cigarettes, and released the heated tobacco device "Ploom X Advanced", re-entering the Korean heat-not-burn market.
A person related to the tobacco industry revealed that the recent trend in the Korean tobacco market tends to favor flavored cigarettes and heated tobacco products. He pointed out: "This product line adjustment seems to be to reflect consumer demand."
