The French government may go further and ban a variety of nicotine products, including nicotine pouches, which the health minister fears will lead to a resumption of smoking.
After e-cigarettes, France may soon ban a variety of other nicotine products, which the health minister believes may lead people to start smoking, according to Actu.Orange on December 29.
Euromonitor pointed out that the global cigarette market is expected to decrease by one third by 2027 because health regulations are suppressing smoking and tobacco substitutes are showing significant growth.
France's then-Health Minister Geneviève Darrieussecq wanted to ban nicotine pouches. The minister explained in an interview at the end of October that a study by the National Institute of Consumption showed that these products contain heavy metals such as arsenic.
The current Health Minister Yannick Neuder has not yet expressed his opinion on the topic, but there are signs that he may continue the policy initiated by his predecessor.
