According to a report by vaping360 news on September 12th,
The strongest signal to date regarding the federal law enforcement actions against the independent e-cigarette industry indicates that President Donald Trump has no intention of fulfilling his campaign promise of "saving e-cigarettes".
It is reported that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Law Enforcement Agency, conducted surprise inspections of e-cigarette distributors and retailers in six states - Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey and North Carolina.
When several government officials displayed the seized items, they compared e-cigarettes to the drug war, emphasizing the "epidemic" risk of e-cigarettes among teenagers. US Attorney General Bond even pointed the finger directly at "Chinese e-cigarettes", claiming that they have addicted American teenagers and might even contain THC.
However, industry insiders pointed out that a large number of the inspected products in this operation were actually produced in the United States and many were still in the PMTA approval process. For a long time, the FDA usually does not take compulsory measures against products still under review, but this practice seems to have changed.
Midwest Goods, one of the major suppliers in the country, was the target of a key crackdown. The industry association warned that this move would directly affect thousands of small retailers that rely on its supplies and threaten millions of consumers who use e-cigarettes as a substitute for cigarettes.
Analysts believe that this law enforcement action means a complete policy shift by the Trump administration, the influence of large tobacco companies is prominent, and the independent e-cigarette industry in the United States is facing an unprecedented survival crisis.
