Belarus strengthens regulation of tobacco industry and plans to ban e-cigarettes

Belarus is working hard to develop a bill on the "circulation and use" of e-cigarettes, and calls on medical staff to provide advice.
According to Volkovysk.EU, Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the Republic Committee of Belarus, met with medical staff of the Republic National Scientific and Practical Center "Cardiology" and said at the meeting that the bill on the "circulation and use" of e-cigarettes is being developed with full force.
A month ago, Viktor Kondratovich, a doctor and member of the Republic Committee, mentioned that Belarus plans to ban e-cigarettes.
Kochanova called on medical staff to provide advice and suggest "what clauses to include in the law".
She stressed that according to doctors, e-cigarettes are more harmful to health than cigarettes.
Kochanova also mentioned,
"Recently, new synthetic drugs have appeared in the United States, which can cause madness after use. Therefore, we have put forward this legislative initiative and will continue to advance the formulation of the bill. Therefore, we look forward to your suggestions on this issue."
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has previously pointed out that since the tobacco industry is an important source of state fiscal revenue, the scale of production and exports must be "maintained as much as possible."
According to official data, the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products added $2.5 billion to the state treasury in 2023.
