Greece Is Considering Banning Flavored E-cigarettes.

According to "European Activities", Greece is preparing a bill to ban all new flavored tobacco products (including flavored e-cigarettes), and only natural tobacco and mint tobacco will be retained. Athens generally opposes stricter regulation of new tobacco products and considers them as traditional cigarettes, but the reasons for taking more severe measures are increasing.
This ban is part of a bill aimed at strengthening the regulation of minors' access to alcohol and tobacco products. Previously, there was an incident in the local area where teenagers fainted due to excessive drinking in nightclubs.
A source said that the bill is currently in the "final stage of internal consultation", but it is not yet clear whether the flavor ban will be retained in the final text. From a legal perspective, a complete ban requires the approval of the European Commission and may take up to six months.
A Greek analyst said that the bill has taken a step in the right direction, mainly because it has a broader crackdown on minors' access to alcohol and tobacco products. However, some government officials outside the Ministry of Health questioned why a bill ostensibly focused on protecting minors would include a flavor ban.
Another insider said, "A complete ban is meaningless because it will also punish adult consumers." They explained that in other countries such as the UK, flavored new tobacco products are still sold on the market and are promoted as tools to help adult smokers quit traditional cigarettes.
Meanwhile, the Electronic Cigarette Products Trade Association warned in a letter to the government that a complete ban on electronic cigarettes would lead to 400,000 e-cigarette users turning to an "uncontrollable" black market.
