By the end of 2023, Switzerland had processed 16 tons of e-cigarettes, with a recycling rate of 19%. To reach the 50% recycling target, relevant organizations have carried out publicity activities in public places and set up e-cigarette recycling boxes at music festivals and outdoor events.

According to Cetoday, by the end of 2023, Swiss recycling company Batrec had processed 16 tons of e-cigarettes.

According to the company, most of the recycled e-cigarettes come from Sens eRecycling's recycling system, while most of the lithium-ion batteries processed come from the INOBAT office responsible for the professional processing of batteries in Switzerland.

Since March 2023, a new recycling plant in Wimmis, canton Bern, has been in operation. The new facility is expected to process up to 2,000 tons of batteries per year. Currently, the recycling plant processes about 1 to 2 tons of e-cigarettes per month.

The current recycling rate of e-cigarettes in Switzerland is 19%, and Sens eRecycling aims to increase the recycling rate of e-cigarettes sold in Switzerland to 50%.

To achieve this, they have launched awareness campaigns in public places and set up e-cigarette recycling bins at music festivals and outdoor events.
