WHO releases World No Tobacco Day theme video: Let young people speak out

WHO: World No Tobacco Day 2024 will provide a platform for young people around the world to urge governments to protect them from predatory tobacco marketing strategies. The tobacco industry targets young people to make a lifetime of profits, sparking a new wave of addiction. In all regions, children use e-cigarettes at a higher rate than adults, with an estimated 37 million adolescents aged 13-15 using tobacco worldwide.

Hey. Got some words of warning for you about a "little" industry called Big Tobacco.

why?

Because they're targeting us.

we've been through a lot.

All kinds of climate crisis, a global pandemic, and three economic recessions.

That's wild.

you know what else is wild?

That while millions of people were losing their homes, lives and livelihoods,

someone else was making bank off all that suffering and misery,

Big Tobacco.

I'm a little heated and you should be too.

Here are the facts.

Those sustainability clean-ups?

Don't even dent the pollution they cause.

We are facing climate catastrophe

and here's Big Tobacco.

cutting down 600 million trees every year to grow the stuff that'll kill over 8 million people,

Never mind the 84 million tonnes of CO2 emissions created to produce it.

Oh, and Big Tobacco, "helping people?"

"Being responsible" with how they source and sell their product?

Why don't we check in with the farmers they've exploited?

The minority group they've targeted?

The kids they're marketing to.

Yeah, They're pushing the stuff to kids.

You've heard of e-cigarettes, Nicotine pouches, vapes with fruity new flavors!

How about five-year old heading to the E.R(Emergency Room)

Because they got their hands on a vape at school?

You think they care?

I'll let them say themselves.

"Smoking e-igarettes is totally safe."

"The base of our business is the high school student."

"Young adult smokers are the only source of replacement smokers."

"We don't smoke that.""we just sell it."

"We reserve the rights to smoke for the young."

We're done with the lies. We won't let them win.

So you can leave this where it is

Or,

you can step in, Stand up, Use your voice,

And say "no"

to Big Tobacco.
