Vietnam's National Assembly: Electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products will be completely banned from 2025

The National Assembly of Vietnam passed a resolution to completely ban the production, sale, import, storage, transportation and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products from 2025.
According to Baophaplut on December 1, the Vietnamese government plans to ban e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products from 2025.
On November 30, with 458/460 deputies present and in favor, and 2 deputies not voting, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed a resolution on the questioning activities of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly. The resolution aims to protect the health of the people, ban the production, sale, import, storage, transportation and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, and requires the government to take specific measures.
In response to the questioning of the deputies, Vietnamese Minister of Health Đào Hồng Lan brought e-cigarette products to the National Assembly as evidence. He pointed out that these e-cigarette products look like toys, are difficult to detect, and are easy to attract young people, emphasizing that this is a difficult problem to control. The Ministry of Health pointed out that although there is no regulation to allow it, these new tobacco products are still circulating in the market due to the profit drive of the tobacco industry.
According to the minister, based on global scientific evidence, new tobacco products contain many substances that are harmful to the human body. Prior to this, the Ministry of Health had submitted a report to the government to assess the impact of new tobacco products.
The Ministry of Health has submitted a report to Congress, recommending that e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products be banned before the Tobacco Control Law (revised version) is reviewed and passed.
