According to a survey by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, 62% of Russian e-cigarette users want to quit smoking. E-cigarettes are popular among users because they have no tobacco smell and relatively low health risks. At present, the proportion of Russian e-cigarette users is about 9%.

According to a report by TASS on August 12, according to the survey results of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (ВЦИОМ), 64% of ordinary cigarette smokers said they want to quit this habit.

The survey shows that among all smokers surveyed, most people want to quit smoking regardless of what kind of tobacco or nicotine-containing products they use. Among ordinary cigarette smokers, 64% expressed varying degrees of willingness to quit smoking. This proportion is 62% among e-cigarette users and 56% among users of heated tobacco devices.

Currently, only 31% of Russians use ordinary cigarettes, heated tobacco or e-cigarettes. Among them, 24% use ordinary cigarettes, 9% use e-cigarettes, and 2% use heated tobacco devices. Respondents said the main reasons they started smoking were the influence of friends (55%), curiosity (29%) and pressure (25%).

Among the main reasons for switching to heated tobacco and e-cigarettes, the lack of tobacco smell (43% and 53%), the desire to quit regular cigarettes (both 40%), and less health hazards (29% among heated tobacco consumers and 19% among e-cigarette consumers) were frequently mentioned.

The survey results showed that 47% of regular cigarette smokers said they felt physically unwell due to smoking, while 46% of smokers said there was no obvious impact. About 7% of respondents were unsure about the impact of smoking on health. At the same time, among the respondents who used heated tobacco and e-cigarettes, 48% and 56% did not find any physical abnormalities, 29% and 24% experienced physical discomfort, and 23% and 20% were unsure whether there was any impact.
