The Bulgarian Parliament will review and pass a bill that is expected to ban minors from using e-cigarettes before the summer break. The bill will also prohibit minors from purchasing and using non-tobacco and nicotine products that are burned or heated.

According to 24chasa on August 12, Bulgarian MPs will deal with a lot of legal matters before the summer break, which is scheduled to start on August 17.

The parliamentary schedule shows that the bill will be considered until the general election on October 20. Despite the tight time, MPs still need to pass a number of important legislations in the last week.

Among them, one of the legislations that has attracted much attention this week is the proposal to ban minors from using e-cigarettes.

Under the new law, e-cigarettes will be treated the same as alcohol and ordinary cigarettes, and minors will be prohibited from using them, as well as from selling them to minors.

The amendment to the Child Protection Law submitted by members of GERB, the main party in the Bulgarian Parliament, has received broad support in the first round of voting and is expected to be finally passed this week.

In addition, the proposal will also ban substances made from plants, herbs and fruits that are burned or heated and do not contain nicotine or tobacco.
