Recently, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration issued the national standard "Cigars" (draft for comments), further clarifying the definition of cigars and scientifically classifying cigar products.

Recently, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration issued an announcement stating that according to the standard formulation and revision plan of the National Standardization Administration, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration has organized the completion of the national standard "Cigars" (draft for comments) and is now open for comments.

It is reported that this document will replace "Cigars Part 1: Product Classification and Sampling Technical Requirements", "Cigars Part 2: Packaging Labels", "Cigars Part 3: Product Packaging, Rolling and Storage and Transportation Technical Requirements", and "Cigars Part 4: Sensory Technical Requirements".

At the same time, the announcement also released the compilation instructions for the national standard "Cigars". The national standard revision project team of Cigars drafted the contents of eight chapters, including the scope of the standard, normative reference documents, terms and definitions, product classification, sensory technical requirements, labeling and packaging requirements, inspection methods, storage and transportation, and studied and formulated the sensory inspection method of cigars as the normative appendix of this standard, and finally formed the draft standard of Cigars.

The explanation pointed out that the definition and product classification of cigars in the current standard did not take into account the style type of cigars, which could not be well connected with the international mainstream cigars, nor could it cope with the changes in consumer demand in my country's cigar consumption market. It is necessary to further clarify the definition of cigars and scientifically classify cigar products through the revision of the standard.
