Philip Morris International Malaysia: New tobacco production has invested US$12.5 billion and the number of users has reached 36.5 million

Recently, Veronica Choo, head of corporate communications at Philip Morris International Malaysia, said that the company has invested $12.5 billion in the production of new tobacco, and the number of users of new tobacco has reached 36.5 million.
According to Malaysia's News Sarawak Tribune, Veronica Choo, head of corporate communications at Phillip Morris Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PMM), said that the company has invested a total of $12.5 billion in research and development to produce new tobacco.
During the sharing of "The Journey of Discovery to a Smoke-free Future" with media practitioners, Veronica Choo said:
"We have 36.5 million adult smokers who have switched to our new tobacco. So, our goal is clear, that is, to ensure a smoke-free future."
However, Veronica Choo also pointed out that without effective government policies, it will be difficult to reduce the number of smokers in the future. She stressed that innovative policies and regulations based on scientific findings are needed to ensure the goal of reducing the number of smokers is achieved.
She added that Japan is currently adopting new tobacco and can see a decline in cigarette sales. All this is thanks to the country's better regulations. Therefore, today we must ask ourselves how to maximize public health benefits by innovating better alternatives.
