Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand: US$2.7 million in illegal e-cigarette products were seized and multiple departments will be united to crack down on the illegal market

Thai police seized illegal e-cigarettes and related equipment worth more than 100 million baht ($2.73 million) in Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. The operation is considered the largest illegal e-cigarette seizure in recent years.
According to a report by Pattaya News on May 25, on May 24, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Anutin Charnvirakul stated at a press conference that in response to the situation in Samut Prohibited e-cigarettes and related equipment worth more than 100 million baht ($2.73 million) were seized during a raid at an illegal e-cigarette warehouse in Krathum Baen District, Sakorn Province.
Previously, Thai media had reported that police had targeted six shops illegally selling e-cigarettes at schools and universities near the Saraya area of Nakhon Patong. After the initial crackdown, police conducted further investigations and subsequently raided large warehouses, uncovering a large amount of e-cigarettes and related equipment.
Anutin emphasized that the district police launched this major operation with the support of other government departments. He emphasized that this was the largest seizure of illegal products under his supervision.
Anutin said he would make every effort to curb the sale of e-cigarettes around schools and work with all departments to crack down on the illegal e-cigarette market.
