British American Tobacco France: Nicotine pouches are an effective tobacco substitute and require regulation rather than a ban

BAT France says nicotine pouches can be an effective tobacco substitute and supports strict regulations to achieve France's 2032 smoke-free goal. The company stressed that the government should formulate unified regulatory rules rather than bans to effectively reduce France's current smoking rate of more than 31%.
According to Cision. News on December 9, BAT France confirmed that new tobacco products such as nicotine pouches can provide an effective tobacco substitute for French smokers.
The company supports stricter regulations, including a ban on the sale of these products to minors, regulations on authorized sales points, maximum nicotine concentrations and labeling of nicotine pouches, and urging retailers to strictly verify the age of buyers when selling.
Charbonneau, the company's head of regulatory affairs, agreed with the government's goal of achieving the "first smoke-free generation" by 2032. He pointed out that the current smoking rate in France is still stagnant at more than 31%. The government, health groups and related industries must work together to come up with effective solutions. For nicotine pouches, the solution is not a ban, but regulation, and the formulation of unified regulatory rules for all nicotine products.
