The governor of the Brazilian state of Goiás has been accused of participating in the promotion of the e-cigarette brand "IGNITE". On September 1, the governor of the state attended the event wearing a jacket with the brand's logo, but he claimed to be unaware and reiterated that e-cigarettes are banned in Brazil.

According to Metro1 on September 4, Ronaldo Caiado, the governor of the Brazilian state of Goiás, was accused of participating in the promotion of the e-cigarette brand "IGNITE". It is reported that this brand's products are banned in Brazil by the Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).

The event was held in Bellavista, Goiás on September 1. The company invited singer Gustavo Lima to perform at the event and gave him the title of brand "ambassador". At the event, the stage background kept switching to show the artist's logo, Greek-style buildings and the "IGNITE" brand logo. During the event, Governor Caiado appeared at the event wearing a jacket with the company's logo.

According to Brazilian media Metrópoles, Ronaldo Caiado said he did not know what the pattern on the jacket he received represented.

In a statement, the governor's office said,

"Governor Ronaldo Caiado did not know the meaning of the pattern on the jacket. He attended the celebrations organized by singer Gustavo Lima in Bellavista, Goiás, and borrowed the jacket because of the cold weather. Caiado stressed that he is a doctor and is firmly against the use of electronic cigarette devices because they are harmful to health. At the same time, it should be pointed out that the 'IGNITE' brand sells beverages in Brazil, not electronic cigarettes, which are banned in Brazil."

The team of singer Gustavo Lima explained to Metrópoles that the purpose of the event was to promote the company's beverage line.
