The Ho Chi Minh City Market Administration in Vietnam has seized 16,000 e-cigarette products this year and plans to focus on cracking down on illegal sales of e-cigarettes around the Spring Festival to implement the 2025 ban on e-cigarettes.

According to Thanhnien on December 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Administration reported on the inspection and handling of the city's e-cigarette market at a regular economic and social press conference.

The Ho Chi Minh City Market Administration said that e-cigarettes are one of the commodities that are inspected and handled around the Spring Festival.

The Administration revealed that e-cigarettes are sold sporadically in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City, mainly in Districts 1, 3, 7, 10, Tân Bình and Phú Nhuận. Since the beginning of the year, the authorities have investigated and dealt with 65 violations involving the sale of goods without clear sources, smuggled goods, and shops that have not been registered in accordance with regulations. They have temporarily seized 16,185 e-cigarette products and accessories with a total value of about VND4.9 billion (USD190,000) and issued administrative fines of more than VND1 billion (USD40,000).

To implement the 2025 ban on e-cigarettes, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Administration said it will formulate focused and effective inspection plans based on market conditions and increase efforts during peak periods.
