Vietnam Customs General Department issued a ban: from 2025, it will stop processing the import procedures of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products
Vietnam will completely ban the production, operation, import, storage, transportation and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products from January 1, 2025. The General Administration of Customs requires local customs to stop the import procedures of related goods and count the existing goods to formulate treatment measures.
According to VTV on January 5, the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam issued an official document to the customs of various provinces and cities in accordance with Resolution No. 173/2024/QH15 passed on November 30, 2024. The document emphasizes that in accordance with the resolution of the 15th National Congress, starting from 2025, Vietnam will completely ban the production, operation, import, storage, transportation and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, as well as other gases and substances that are harmful to human health.
The General Administration of Customs stipulates that from January 1, 2025, all import and export goods related to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products will no longer be subject to customs import procedures, including the import of parts and raw materials used to produce e-cigarettes. Local customs are required to count the relevant goods still existing in the management area, including parts, raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products and waste, and make treatment suggestions.
These statistics must be submitted to the General Administration of Customs before January 10 for comprehensive compilation and formulation of further processing measures.
