The New Regulations On E-cigarette Products in Alabama, The United States, Will Come Into Effect On June 1st.

According to WSFA News on June 3: Montgomery, Alabama (WSFA) - New regulations on e-cigarette products in Alabama have now come into effect.
House Bill 8 sets stricter requirements for the sale of e-cigarettes and other alternative nicotine products.
The bill's sponsor, Representative Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile), said in May that the law aims to prevent young people in Alabama from using and purchasing e-cigarette products.
She said, "From classrooms to communities, we are seeing this become an epidemic."
HB8 requires that e-cigarette products sold in Alabama be manufactured in the United States, and convenience stores can only sell 34 tobacco and menthol flavored e-cigarette products approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). All other products must be sold in stores and only to those 21 years of age and older.
"Retailers or manufacturers of electronic nicotine delivery systems, e-liquids, or alternative nicotine products may not promote electronic nicotine delivery systems, e-liquids, or alternative nicotine products in any of the following ways: a. As a smoking cessation product. b. As a healthier alternative to smoking. c. On any outdoor billboard for any flavor other than tobacco, menthol, or mint. d. On any outdoor billboard within 1,000 feet of a public or private K-12 school or public playground."

According to the law, the State Board of Education must establish a model e-cigarette awareness, education, and prevention program and require each local education board to develop policies based on this model.
The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board said the law "designates two specific types of retail licenses available for businesses to use."

The tobacco license of this committee authorizes the sale of tobacco, tobacco products, non-vapor nicotine alternatives, electronic liquids, electronic nicotine delivery systems, and vapor alternative nicotine products that have received FDA marketing orders.
The committee also issued professional retailer licenses for electronic nicotine delivery systems, allowing stores to sell "any electronic liquids, electronic nicotine delivery systems, and vapor-type alternative nicotine products that comply with state and federal legal requirements". Retailers holding this license can only sell products to individuals aged 21 and above, and must post signs indicating the age restriction.
This law will come into effect on June 1, 2025.
