Ukraine's Economic and Security Service investigates more than 6,000 illegal e-cigarette cases with a value of more than $80,000
The Economic Security Service of Ukraine seized more than 6,000 illegal e-cigarettes, e-liquids and electronic atomizers in the Lviv region, with an estimated value of about $80,000.
On January 13, the official website of the Economic Security Service of Ukraine ("ESB") announced that officials had cracked a large-scale counterfeit tobacco product case in Lviv.
The authorities found that a criminal gang used irregular channels to illegally transport e-cigarette products at the border checkpoint in the Lviv region. These products were provided by suppliers in a certain EU country, sold through communication tools such as Telegram and sent to consumers by mail.
After investigation, the authorities determined the hiding places of these products. Law enforcement officers then searched several warehouses in Kyiv and the residences of relevant personnel, and seized more than 6,000 e-cigarettes, e-liquids and electronic atomizers, with an estimated value of more than 3.3 million hryvnias (about $80,000).
