The recycling problem of discarded e-cigarettes in the UK needs to be solved urgently
According to a recent report by the BBC, about 5 million used e-cigarettes are currently discarded in the UK every week, a fourfold increase from last year.
Research shows that only 17% of users recycle e-cigarettes in the correct way using special recycling bins. Although the law stipulates that stores selling e-cigarettes are obliged to recycle discarded e-cigarettes, many stores do not do so because it increases the store's costs.
The maker of disposable e-cigarette brand Elf Bar said it is working to increase recycling rates for discarded e-cigarettes, setting up thousands of recycling points in retail stores while making its products more recyclable. A spokesman for the British government said: "The government is very concerned about the impact of disposable e-cigarettes on the environment and will take relevant measures to solve this problem."
