The value of illegal e-cigarette products seized by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry has exceeded 25.87 million pesos (US$440,000), far exceeding the total seizures in 2023 of 5.453 million pesos (US$93,000).
According to a report in the Manila Bulletin on June 3, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that in the first five months of strict enforcement, the value of illegal e-cigarette products seized has exceeded 25.87 million pesos (US$440,000), far exceeding the value of 2023 The total amount seized during the year was 5.453 million pesos (US$93,000).
Department Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual said this should serve as a strong warning to potential violators.
"Halfway through the year, the significant increase in seizures of illegal e-cigarettes is a testament to our unwavering commitment to protecting Filipino consumers, especially our youth. These results demonstrate an improvement in our work efforts and we It won't stop here."

Since the implementation of the e-cigarette law, the Department of Trade and Industry has seized a total of 67,010 e-cigarette products worth 31.328 million pesos (US$530,000). Most of the e-cigarette products seized violated Philippine Republic Act 11900, the E-Cigarette Law. Specifically, they violated Section 1(j) of Chapter 6 of the Act, which prohibits the sale of e-cigarette products that are packaged, labeled, displayed and marketed with flavor descriptions or cartoon characters that are attractive to minors.
The Department of Trade and Industry said the public is encouraged to report any illegal sale, manufacture and distribution of illegal vaping products.
