The Netherlands Will Not Impose Consumption Tax On E-cigarette Products in The Near Future

The Netherlands will not impose consumption tax on e-cigarette products in the near future

According to recent reports from relevant media, the Netherlands will not impose consumption tax on e-cigarette products in the near future. Even if the Netherlands gets EU approval to begin imposing excise taxes on e-cigarette products, the process will take years to complete.

Dutch Health Minister Martin van Oyen said he will propose the next cabinet to introduce an e-cigarette excise tax. "We need to take action on e-cigarettes as quickly as possible, just like other countries in the EU have done," Oyyan said.

In recent years, some cigarette consumers in the Netherlands have switched to e-cigarette products. The Dutch government is currently focusing on banning flavored e-cigarette oils and online sales of e-cigarette products in response to the rising use of e-cigarette products among teenagers.
