Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe said that this delayed implementation tax policy will officially take effect in November. The new tax rate is 0.5 euros per milliliter of e-cigarette oil, and it has been officially announced as part of the 2025 budget.
This tax covers all e-cigarette oil products, regardless of whether they contain nicotine.
Former Finance Minister Jack Chambers pointed out when announcing the policy that most disposable e-cigarettes contain approximately 2 milliliters of e-cigarette oil and are currently priced at around 8 euros. After the new tax and value-added tax (VAT) are added, the price is expected to rise to around 9.23 euros.
