In a raid in downtown Bangkok, Thai police seized 25,352 e-cigarette products worth more than 2 million baht (about 60,000 US dollars) and arrested a 30-year-old female suspect. The case involved the illegal import and online sale of e-cigarettes and IQOS cartridges.

According to Khaosod on September 11, Wittaya Sriprasert, deputy chief of the Thai Police General Department, led the department to raid an apartment in downtown Bangkok and seized a large number of e-cigarettes, involving an amount of more than 2 million baht (about 60,000 US dollars).

The police arrested a 30-year-old female suspect in the operation. The police seized a total of 25,352 e-cigarette products in her apartment, worth more than 2 million baht (about 60,000 US dollars).

It is understood that based on the previous reports received, the police suspected that the apartment was storing illegally imported e-cigarettes and IQOS cartridges, ready to be sold online. After a two-month investigation and evidence collection, the police determined that the report was true and carried out the surprise inspection with a court permit.

According to the police, the suspect was seized along with a large number of different types of e-cigarettes, which the police seized as evidence.

During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that she was only responsible for packing and sending the goods to customers through a private transportation company. It is reported that most of her customers live in the Bangkok area.

The police have now charged her with "assisting in hiding and selling items smuggled into the kingdom without customs procedures". The case has been transferred to the Third Police Team of the Bangkok Headquarters for further investigation and handling.
