Survey of nicotine pouch users in the United States: 80% of users switch to nicotine pouches to quit smoking, and online purchase becomes the mainstream

The 2024 Nicotine Pouch Report shows that nearly 80% of American adult consumers have switched from traditional tobacco to nicotine pouches, and 83% are opposed to the flavor ban. Online purchase of nicotine products has gradually become a mainstream trend.
According to Businesswire on December 31, Nicokick, an online nicotine pouch retailer in the United States, and Northerner jointly released the 2024 Nicotine Pouch Report, which conducted an in-depth analysis of survey data from about 2,000 American adult consumers. The survey showed that 80% of nicotine pouch users said that they switched to nicotine pouches to quit smoking or improve their lifestyle, and 48% of respondents said that eliminating secondhand smoke was an important factor in their choice of nicotine pouches.
The report survey showed that nearly 92% of users had improved health after switching from cigarettes to nicotine pouches. 83% of people opposed the flavor ban, and 70% (71%) of consumers said that the introduction of new flavors would not affect the total number of nicotine pouches they purchased, while 52% believed that the flavor ban would prompt them to use nicotine products that are more harmful to their health.
Survey respondents also said that their purchasing behavior is shifting to online platforms due to convenience, price competitiveness and a wider product selection than physical stores. The survey showed that consumers said that 81% of nicotine bags were purchased online, and nearly two-thirds (62%) of users aged 65 and above purchased nicotine bags online, compared with 45% of all users. Nearly one-third of bag users (28%) said they would buy more nicotine products online in the future.
In addition, mint is the most popular flavor category, accounting for 59% of the best-selling list. Price, flavor and nicotine strength are the main drivers of purchasing decisions.
