Small: Responding to British legislative consultation and supporting the protection of British teenagers
According to news from Vaporvoice on December 4, e-cigarette manufacturer Small announced that it will no longer cooperate with brands that use flavor names, packaging or product designs that attract teenagers.
According to Vaporvoice on December 4, e-cigarette manufacturer Smoore announced that it will no longer cooperate with brands that use flavor names, packaging or product designs that attract teenagers. Currently, the British government is conducting consultations on e-cigarettes, focusing on solving the problem of youth use of e-cigarettes.
Small said in a press release that it wants to stop using kid-friendly flavor names like Marshmallow, Fruity Bears, Watermelon Bubble Gum and Blueberry Popsicle. Likewise, the company hopes to stop the production and sale of "invisible products" designed to look like school supplies, toys, drinks or cartoon characters.
Smalls developed a list of flavors it believed would be suitable for teenagers and also created a flavor testing panel to monitor the market for new flavors that might be considered attractive to young people.
"The e-cigarette industry represents the best opportunity the world has ever had to eradicate cigarettes, and we cannot let this opportunity go to waste," said Rex Zhang, director of strategy at Small. "E-cigarettes were invented for this purpose and we need to ensure it is focused on the adult smoking market.
Each company under the Small family is required to conduct a self-regulatory review to ensure that its products or customers of its OEM and ODM businesses are not seen as producing products that appeal to teenagers.
The flavor list so far includes:
Skittles
Rainbow
Cotton Candy
Donut
Gummy Bear
Bubblegum
Slushy
Starburst
Pink Pop
Ice Cream
Milkshake
Popsicle
Starry Violet
Reindeer
Snow
Christmas
Fruit Smash
Dr Reptile
Sour Patch
Oreo
Jolly
If the company discovers that a brand owner's product is deemed by SMALL to be marketed to children, SMALL will work with the company to take immediate corrective measures, and if no action is taken, SMALL may ultimately terminate all cooperation with the brand.
The statement also proposed the establishment of a "no-fly list" for use by global retail and distribution companies that lists manufacturers of child-friendly products to prevent their products from being sold; and called for more standardization of product sizes and shapes.
The company believes that standardization will facilitate rapid "disassembly" at waste disposal sites and help increase the recycling rate of products; it calls for random sampling of each batch of disposable e-cigarettes and reloadable e-cigarettes to inspect the products. If any non-conforming product is found, the entire batch should be rejected.
