Russia plans to criminalize illegal e-cigarette oil trafficking
According to foreign media reports, a proposal from the Russian Federation's Economic Policy Council has become the focus. If the proposal officially becomes law, illegal e-cigarette oil smugglers may face three to seven years in prison.
Lawmakers are concerned about the proliferation of illegal e-cigarette liquids because they have evaded regulatory scrutiny and it is unclear how much they cost and the conditions under which they are produced, posing huge health risks. Anatoly Vibony, deputy chairman of the Security and Anti-Corruption Commission, supported the regulation, saying the measure would help protect the health of young Russians.
Currently, in Russia, illegal imports of e-cigarettes and e-liquids do not bear criminal liability, and many people have taken advantage of this loophole. Anatoly Viboni insists that such illegal business must be stopped.
