New Maryland bill takes effect: E-cigarettes are completely banned in indoor public places

Several new laws in Maryland, USA, officially took effect on July 1, including an increase in tobacco taxes and a ban on indoor e-cigarette smoking.

According to WBOC on July 1, a new amendment to the Maryland Indoor Clean Air Act took effect today, officially banning e-cigarette smoking in all indoor public places and workplaces.

 

The Indoor Clean Air Act was first passed in 2007 and initially banned smoking in public indoor places to "protect and improve the health, comfort and environment of the people of Maryland by limiting exposure to environmental smoke."

 

Starting July 1, 2024, the law includes e-cigarettes.

 

Previously, Maryland passed an amendment during the 2024 legislative session.

 

According to the Maryland Department of Health, smoking or consuming tobacco, marijuana or marijuana-derived products is prohibited in indoor areas open to the public, as follows:
