Lithuanian government says pharmacies will not sell e-cigarettes
According to news from the media kurierwilenski on November 15, the Lithuanian government decided to reject proposed changes to the Act on Prescription E-cigarettes and Pharmacy Sales of E-cigarettes.
In this regard, former Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said, “Many people have misunderstood my proposal to sell e-cigarettes in pharmacies with a doctor’s prescription. We are not suggesting that all e-cigarettes be moved now. Go to pharmacies and sell them with a prescription. If e-cigarettes are recognized as medicinal products, they can be sold with a prescription in pharmacies, just like the current medical chewing gum that helps quit smoking, but this is only a theoretical possibility, so I suggest that in Lithuania has completely banned the sale of e-cigarettes.”
Meanwhile, Gintaras Karanda, head of the Department of Drugs, Tobacco and Alcohol Control, pointed out that the bill may restrict the use of e-cigarettes among teenagers.
